Seed Developments Products Support Record-Breaking Pacific Rowers

18.11.2025

British rowers Jess Rowe and Miriam Payne have accomplished a remarkable feat by completing an 8,000+ mile journey across the Pacific Ocean. Their expedition began in Peru in May 2025 and concluded in Cairns, Australia on 18 October, lasting an impressive 165 days.

Challenges Faced on the Pacific Crossing

Throughout their epic voyage, Jess and Miriam encountered a range of challenges. They dealt with many mechanical and navigational difficulties, and one of the most essential aspects of their journey was maintaining a healthy and nutritious diet during their 165 days at sea.

Seed Developments’ Innovative Support

Seed Developments were proud to support the rowers by providing pre-sown seed disks. These disks enabled Jess and Miriam to grow fresh, healthy green vegetables, such as lettuce and microgreens, while on board as part of their overall dietary requirements.

Collaboration with Home Harvest

Seed Developments collaborated with Home Harvest, who designed and supplied a solar-powered, on-board growing unit. This innovative solution ensured a reliable supply of nutritious leaves and microgreens produced from Seed Developments’ pre-sown seed discs, giving the rowers access to fresh food throughout their journey from start to finish.

Seed Development’s CEO, Andrew Gould, commented “We were delighted and proud to have contributed to Jess and Miriam’s amazing rowing accomplishment with the provision of pre-sown seed discs to supplement their diet.”
