Welcome to Seed Developments

We’re the world’s leading manufacturer of biodegradable seed tapes and pre-sown associated products based in Somerset, England.

We supply seed companies and distributors across the globe, and also specialise in supplying bespoke promotional seed products for brand and marketing agencies and their FMCG clients.

Most seeds can be incorporated into our products – whether they be flower, vegetable or herb seeds. We are also fully Soil Association approved to work with organic seeds.

The pre-sown products are available in a wide range of shapes and sizes such as tapes, discs, mats for small containers and carpets to roll out over larger borders.

Using the latest technology, single seeds or a multiple of seeds are pre-spaced between tissue at the correct distance – so there’s no need to transplant or thin out.

Our motto is 'Sow Simple' as all our seed products are easy to grow, biodegradable, quick and fun to use.

Our lawns often look so untidy in the cooler months because in our maritime climate most daily temperatures rise above this level allowing the grass to grow.

  • In winter the greenhouse need not be put to sleep. It’s a useful convalescent home for any tender plants that you may need to overwinter and even in an unheated space they will be protected from frost. Bubble wrap or horticultural fleece can also help to provide a protective micro-climate around these tender species.

The weather made 2012 a remarkable year with an early declaration of drought closely followed by a record wet summer perhaps best symbolised by the deluge that greeted the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations on the Thames.
